OMS app: Processing a new order
This article explains the basics of picking, packing, and moving a new order forward in the Breadstack OMS tablet app.
These steps apply after you have located the order using the New Orders tab or the new-order popup.
Before you begin
-
Make sure the order is visible in the Pending Picking section.
-
Orders may be temporarily unavailable to process if payment has not yet been confirmed or if your POS integration requires approval.
-
For eTransfer or special POS scenarios, see Processing eTransfer orders and Understanding order, payment, and fulfillment statuses.
Step 1: Open the Order Details panel
-
Tap the order in the New Orders list.
-
Review the following information:
-
Items and quantities to pick
-
Fulfillment method (pickup, delivery, or mail)
-
Payment status
-
Customer notes
-
This ensures you have everything needed before preparing the order.
Step 2: Pick and pack items
-
Gather all items listed in the order.
-
Confirm that quantities match the order.
-
Pack the items appropriately for pickup or delivery.
Make sure the order is complete and ready to move forward before marking it as ready in the app.
Step 3: Mark the order as ready
Once the order is prepared:
- Tap Items Ready in the order details panel.
- The order will move from Pending Picking to Ready for Pickup.
Notes
-
Some orders may not allow this step until payment is confirmed.
-
For POS-integrated stores, certain actions may automatically update order status once you mark items ready.
-
Notifications may be sent to the customer when the order is ready, depending on the fulfillment type and store setup.
- For orders with eTransfer payments, follow the instructions in Processing eTransfer orders before marking items ready to ensure payment has been confirmed.
Next steps
After marking items ready, follow the appropriate path based on fulfillment type:
-
In-store or curbside pickup: Wait for the customer to arrive, then complete the order (see Completing pickup orders).
-
Local delivery: The order will be assigned to a driver, who will handle delivery confirmation (see Completing delivery and mail orders).
-
Mail orders: Prepare waybills as required and track shipment progress (see Completing delivery and mail orders).
