Introduction to the Breadstack OMS tablet app

The Breadstack Order Management System (OMS) tablet app lets in‑store staff view, process, and complete orders while moving around the storefront. Learn the basics of using and navigating the app.

The OMS app is designed for quick, day‑to‑day order handling, with real‑time syncing to both the Breadstack desktop app and connected systems such as your POS and delivery services.

Use this article to understand what the tablet app is used for and how its main areas are organized. For step‑by‑step instructions, see the linked task‑based guides.

What you can do in the OMS tablet app

With the OMS tablet app, you can:

  • See new orders as soon as they’re placed

  • Pick and pack items for pickup, delivery, or mail orders

  • Mark orders as ready for pickup or delivery

  • Complete pickup orders when customers arrive

  • Look up recently completed orders

  • Adjust notification, printer, and store settings

Some actions—such as confirming payment or completing delivery—may occur automatically through your POS or delivery service, depending on your store setup.

How orders move through the app (high level)

Orders typically move through the tablet app in the following way:

  1. New order received – The order appears in the New Orders tab and triggers a notification.

  2. Order prepared – Staff pick and pack the items and mark the order as Items Ready when available.

  3. Order completed – The order is completed after pickup or delivery, either by staff action in the app or automatically through an integrated system.

The exact steps and available actions can vary based on payment method, fulfillment type, and POS integration. For a detailed explanation of order, payment, and fulfillment statuses, see Understanding order statuses in Breadstack.
